Description
Saliva DNA Collection and Preservation Devices provide a user-friendly, non-invasive method for collecting saliva samples and preserving DNA for laboratory analysis. The collection system is designed to maintain DNA integrity at ambient temperature, reducing the need for immediate processing or frozen storage.
Each pack contains 50 collection devices. Every device includes a saliva collection funnel, a collection tube, a tube cap, and a sealed ampoule containing DNA preservative. After saliva collection, the preservative is added to the sample according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Each collection tube has a unique serial number to support secure and anonymous sample tracking. Preserved DNA can remain stable for more than two years at room temperature under the specified conditions.
Key Features
- Non-invasive and convenient saliva collection.
- DNA preservation at room temperature for more than two years under specified conditions.
- Designed to simplify sample storage and transportation.
- Unique serial numbers for sample identification and tracking.
- Compatible with multiple commercial DNA isolation methods.
- Suitable for epidemiological and population studies.
Applications
Purified DNA obtained from preserved saliva samples can be used in a range of downstream molecular biology applications, including:
- Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)
- Quantitative PCR (qPCR)
- Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS)
- Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) analysis
- Microarray analysis
- Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (RFLP) analysis
- Southern blot analysis
- Epidemiological and population genetics studies
DNA Isolation from Preserved Saliva
Before DNA isolation, vortex the collection tube containing preserved saliva for 10 seconds and incubate at 55°C for one hour, following the manufacturer's instructions.
DNA can then be isolated using a compatible commercial method, including silica-based purification, magnetic bead systems, or alcohol precipitation methods, provided the selected protocol supports preserved saliva samples.
The purified DNA is suitable for a variety of downstream molecular analysis techniques.
Compatible DNA Isolation Methods
The preserved samples are designed to be compatible with commercial DNA isolation methods. Consult the relevant manufacturer's protocol to confirm compatibility with the preservative and sample volume.
